If we had to highlight a sneaker that represents the design idiom of the late ’90s, then our choice would most likely fall on none other than the Air Max 97. Hardly any other sneaker embodies the vibe from this time better than you had to pull its style influences out of the tube TV and the leading role models were Biggie, Puff Daddy and the Wu-Tang Clan. Nike commissioned young, up-and-coming footwear designer Christian Tresser with the task of continuing the Air Max series and taking the maximum cushioning idea to a new level. For the Upper, Christian Tresser was inspired by a drop of water falling in a pond, which the designer understood with the skilfully placed 3M Piping. In addition to the radical but organic design, the full-length Air Sole Unit was another absolute novelty on this sneaker classic. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Nike is also releasing other classic colorways from the early 1990s, as well as perfectly coordinated new interpretations.Share this...
